Things to know about timber used in house construction

When we talk about the advantages of wood, as a general rule we ignore what they are; to illustrate a little on the subject we will say that:

In the United States, around 73 million hectares are dedicated to the cultivation of yellow pine, the most widely used wood in the manufacture of houses, which is equivalent to 1.45 times the size of the whole of Spain.

The main characteristics of this wood are its exceptional strength and resistance to wear and tear.

Kiln-drying the wood guarantees its dimensional stability.

This drying process leaves the wood with a maximum moisture content of less than 19%.

This moisture content is indicated on the wood pieces themselves preceded by the initials KD, so "KD 15" means that the maximum moisture content is 15%.

Oil and metal ore deposits are finite; when they are depleted, they cannot be renewed.

Wood, on the other hand, is a renewable product and only needs water and sunshine to grow, making it a potentially inexhaustible material.
